on earth

curved white ankles
soft short legs
walk grace
walk stiletto heels
ground crunch and fold

why do you walk on earth
when you should swim
bubbles from your nose
stars in your hair
light reflections melting into your skin

why do you walk on earth
when you should fly
clouds watching in awe
birds below and to the left
toes curled up
arms flexed

why do you walk on earth
when you should let space
embrace you
sunlight screaming light directly
no atmosphere
no sound
but the whisper of your laughter
and its echo off distant spheres

you walk by
and you walk away
